Vaccinations and Immunisations
The Practice actively encourages parents to have their children immunised. This not only protects the individual child against serious infectious diseases such as meningitis, measles, whooping cough, polio etc but also helps to maintain an appropriate level of immunity within the general population.
Immunisations are carried out by Sister Vicky Parr and Sister Clare Brewer, on Mondays and Wednesdays from
1.30pm - 3.00pm. No appointment is needed and the nurses are happy to discuss any queries you may have regarding your child’s immunisation needs.
Further information is available on the NHS Choices website, please click here to view.
Cervical Smears
This is a free test to reduce the risk of you developing cancer of the cervix. ALL women age 25 to 64yrs of age are eligible for this test. More information can be found here.
You can make an appointment for this with the practice nurses (Vicky and Sarah) or one of the female GPs (Dr Hinton, Dr Sekhar, Dr Parkinson, Dr Zaki)
If you tell the receptionist you want a smear appointment, you will be given a wide choice of appointment days and times, and it is possible to book in advance, or on the day.
If you have any concerns or questions about what is involved in a smear test, please feel free to make an appointment, or speak to Vicky on the phone, who will be happy to chat things through with you.
Health Checks
Appointments can be arranged throughout the week with the practice nurse for regular health checks, e.g. blood pressure, asthma, COPD, cervical smears, adult and child vaccinations (including advice about holiday vaccinations), well woman/well man and family planning advice.
